Built by J.R. Simrill, in circa 1882, this building was constructed for the “Charitable, social and religious” aspects of the town by the Odd Fellows, a national fraternal organization. As shown by the City Directory data, note that A.H. Davega operated a prosperous shoe business. Previously it was said the business was owned by R.P. Morris and G.R. Ball who acquired the property in circa 1906.
