City Directories and History:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0CHARLES W. SEIGNIOUS BUILDING –\u00a0Constructed circa 1851; rehabilitated 1965, 1994<\/p>\n

“Charles W. Seignious acquired the lot with or without this three-story brick store\u00a0and dwelling in 1851 from Samuel Wagner. The structure is notable for the retention of its early storefront pattern, especially the stone lintel and the cast-iron pilasters. The first-floor shop windows are a conjectural restoration by Historic Charleston Foundation carried out when it acquired the property in 1965. A walled-up entry door at the northeast corner of the structure formerly gave access to the floors above. Similar access survives through the remaining doors on the rear of the west elevation.”\"DSC_0202-2\"<\/a><\/p>\n
