The Manning Times of March 3, 1886 contained an ad – “The S.R. Marshall Co., at 129 Meeting St., sole agents for plows, and guanno distributors from several companies.”
City Directories and History: The Marshall company was operating at this location in ca. 1885, when the highly successful Thomas General Store in Ridgeway, S.C. purchased items from the Marshall Company. Associated with the Marshall Co. Store were: Samuel R. Marshall, Julius J. Wescoat, John V. McNamee, and Paul W. Sanders.
