City Directories and History: ADELE G. BAKER HOUSE
Constructed 1898-1902
“Cross gables with Tudor style wood decoration and diamond pane windows, as well as an ornamental turret with a conical roof, identify this late-Queen Anne style house built by Adele G. Baker on a lot purchased by Benjamin McCabe in 1893. McCabe, owner of a row of Queen Anne style houses on Chapel Street and developer of numerous sites on the peninsula, acquired several of these lots, obviously intending to build a row of investment houses. The McCabe lots, however, went to individual owners, who built an assortment of Queen Anne and Colonial Revival style houses in the ensuing decade.”
