Villa de la Fontain – A Charleston B&B
City Directories and History: L. KERRISON HOUSE
Constructed circa 1838; restored 1970s; Russell Warren, architect
“Unlike most of the houses in the Village of Harleston this monumental dwelling sits back from the street and features a front facing portico supported by columns with Tower of the Winds capitals. The house was designed by the Rhode Island architect Russell Warren, kinsman of Charleston merchant Nathaniel Russell. Built by a dry goods merchant, the house was advertised for rent with a description that mentioned its “handsomely laid out garden,” its bathing house, and running-water conveniences.”
