City Directories and History: 1925 – Camden Hotel, 1941 – Camden Hotel, 1964 – Sarsfield Hotel, Connelle Coffee Shop, (521.5) Mission House
“Anticipating a quieter postwar climate, the Schlosburg brothers sold the Sarsheld Club and transferred their business energies to modernizing the Camden Hotel on DeKalb Street and operating it as the Sarsfield Hotel. When enforcement of blue laws jeopardized Sunday movies, swimming, ball games, golf, and polo, the Kershaw County delegation sought special legislation so as not to “hurt the tourist trade” in Camden.” (Information courtesy of A History of Kershaw County, S.C. by Joan A. Inabinet and L. Glenn Inabinet, 2001 – The Un. of S.C. Press)
