City Directories and History: Liberty Hill Plantation was located to the east of Poplar Hill for which no information.has been discovered. Situated north of Liberty Hill was Blue Field Plantation. During the last decade of the eighteenth century Blue Field was owned by John Palmer. Mount Hope Plantation was northeast of Springfield. This plantation was acquired by Joseph Cantey in 1739. Later owners of the tract were James Murray and James Hunter. By the early part of the nineteenth century the plantation was owned by Dr. Samuel Dwight. Between Mount Hope and Blue Field was Oaklands Plantation. Oaklands was probably originally a portion of Mount Hope.
