City Directories and History:<\/strong><\/span> Whitney Cottage was built ca. 1910 by Frank Whitney as a caretaker’s house and to provide rooms for visitors to the Lawton House , a boarding house that was demolished in the 1960s or 1970s. The one-story frame weatherboard building is four bays wide. Built on a raised brick foundation, the cottage is a vernacular form of the Bungalow style. The porch across the facade is supported by\u00a0four round columns with a simple balustrade. The roof is hipped with gable at the top.\u00a0 An addition has been made to the south facade.<\/p>\n

The building is now used as a guest house and study.<\/p>\n
