City Directories and History: Five Forks Community is located in the north-eastern comer of Anderson County, in Garvin Township. The name Five Forks grew out of the road inter-sections—five roads like the spokes of a wheel, leading from many rural Anderson County areas. Soon a post office was to open and two additional roads opened up in the community a short distance from the original five roads. The Five Forks Community has had three names during its existence—Five Forks, Septus, and Bruno. Later when the Five Forks Community started receiving mail from a rural route of the Anderson post office, the community reverted to its original name. The five roads lead in five different directions to areas of trade. Two roads head towards Anderson, one goes to Williamston, one goes to Pendleton, and the last towards Greenville. The two latest roads lead into the rural area surrounding the community.

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
