City Directories and History: 1954 – Robert M. Gaffney
This home appears to have been constructed shortly after the accompanying 1917 Sanborn Insurance Maps of Union, SC was issued. It was built on the vacant lot next to #56. In 1984, the Gaffney home was owned by Billy E. Holcombe who reported the house was constructed about 1885. The house was originally built by John Humphries, a local stone cutter. Mr. H.L. Gaffney, owned the Leaders Shop on Main Street, a popular merchant shop.
