City Directories and History: 1954 – Parker Furniture Company, 1984-2014 – Smith’s Jewelry Store
This structure appears to be #10 (furniture company) on the accompanying 1917 Sanborn Insurance Maps of Union, S.C. This facility once housed the Bank of Union, with C.C. Sanders, President, which closed in 1929 as a result of the Great Depression. For decades following its close, the building was used as the Municipal offices of the City of Union.
Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
